Of Mice and Men Edward and Lennie - 972 Words
In literature we see a wide variety that sometimes seem that may not connect but it does. For example Edward, Edward Scissorhands , and Lennie, Of Mice and Men, are very similar characters. Although Edward Scissorhands and Of Mice and Men are two different stories with two very different situations they have a lot of similarities. In the movie Edward Scissorhands and the book Of Mice and Men, both main characters have caretakers who at one point had regrets on taking care of them. Edwardââ¬â¢s dad, creator, passed away leaving him all alone in the mansion until Peg, Avon seller, goes to the mansion looking to make a cell but instead she notices that he is all alone and takes him home. Lennieââ¬â¢s, Of Mice and Men, only living family member,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦They all looked out for him. Curley loved picking fights with bigger guys. One night he attacks Lennie but Lennie didnââ¬â¢t defend himself until George told him to. Lennie ends up breaking Curleyââ¬â¢s arm. Both George and Lennie are scared that they would have to leave because of the fight but Slim tells them ââ¬Å" ââ¬ËThis punk sure had it cominââ¬â¢ to himââ¬â¢ â⬠(Steinbeck 64.) Slim comes up with a cover story that Curly got his arm stuck in a machine and thatââ¬â¢s how it broke. Because everyone thought Ed ward broke into Jimââ¬â¢s house to rob him, and that he purposely hurt Kim and her brother, Kevin, the whole neighborhood went after him. After Curleyââ¬â¢s wifeââ¬â¢s body was discovered everyone went after Lennie. George ends up killing Lennie. In the movie Edward Scissorhands and the book Of Mice and Men, both main characters have caretakers who at one point had regrets on taking care of them. Edward has an attraction to Kim, Pegââ¬â¢s daughter, which just brings tragedies like Lennieââ¬â¢s attraction to Curleyââ¬â¢s wife.
