And of course given with a strong economy and know how nigh motors (cars were invented in the United States) these youths with plenty of energy, spare cash and ingenuity created fast cars which were known as slingshots.Of course, it was front built to be crude just like the Fords T-Model and others resembles a sedan provided that they ran faster. The races were first done in the street (and therefore illegal) until it evolved to an activity in the 1950s. It further evolved where regulatory bodies were accomplished as well the support of big companies that made the sport not only a winning spectator sport but also a no-hit commercial sport.The evolution of drag speed to become a spectator sport can be likened to any other endeavor be it in sport, organization or companies. It started as a hobby or a recreation and sedulous by few enthusiasts.
